Lithology and Thickness

It consists of red conglomerates, siltstones (=silt like) with layers of sandstones and gravelites (Dzhalilov et al., 1971). Its thickness varies from 2 to 7 m in the Turkestan region and from 25 to 120 m in the Zeravshan-Gissar region.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

The suite is deposited with a sharp angular unconformity on the Paleozoic deposits.

Upper contact

Regional extent

In the rest of the territory of the Turkestan region, including the Zeravshan valley, as well as in the Zeravshan-Gissar region, the lower Cenomanian (Tyubegatansky and Karikansaisky horizons) and the upper part of the upper Cenomanian (Tagarinsky horizon) corresponds to the Sangrezin Fm.
